Welcome

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT). I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about our organisation and this role through this website.

MCHFT provides a comprehensive range of acute, maternity and child health services for an economically diverse and largely semi-rural population of circa 300,000 people. We operate from three main sites in Crewe, Northwich and Winsford serving the communities of Alsager, Crewe, Congleton, Holmes Chapel, Knutsford, Middlewich, Nantwich, Northwich, Sandbach, Winsford and areas bordering North Staffordshire. We are a well-regarded high performing Trust committed to quality, safety, continuous improvement and innovation. We are part of the Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a local health partnership that provides a range of community health services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

Working together with our partners in the wider health and social care system is essential to address our population’s future health and wellbeing needs and we are continuing to advance the delivery of sustainable services through our integrated working agenda. We were delighted that the community services that Mid Cheshire Hospitals provides under the CCICP improved its rating to ‘Good’ across all areas. This partnership between the Trust, our local GP Alliance and local mental health provider, Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, demonstrates that working collaboratively can deliver incredible results and helps us to move further toward our strategy of delivering safe care closer to home in our care communities. The need to work in collaboration as a ‘System’ will only accelerate as the reforms in legislation, set out in the Government health White Paper, are implemented from April 2022.

As a Trust we have been rated ‘Good’ for the third consecutive time with the Care Quality Commission and are committed to a journey to achieving ‘Outstanding’. In the last 18 months, we have faced unprecedented challenge and I am incredibly proud of our highly committed and talented workforce and volunteers who continue to pull together to ensure that we are able to care for our patients, while ensuring our staff remain as safe as can be. Some of these efforts have been recognised nationally, with the Trust being shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the Nursing Time’s ‘Best Wellbeing and Staff Engagement Initiative’ and the ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ over the last 12 months.

At this challenging, yet exciting time, we are seeking a Non-Executive Director, who will also Chair our Audit Committee, to contribute to the work of our Board of Directors and Council of Governors. We are seeking an individual with a track record of successful leadership who shares our passion and focus on the provision of safe, high quality and sustainable services which meet the needs of our population. We warmly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds to improve the diversity of our board and provide a fresh and different perspective to our strategic decision-making. As this individual will Chair our Audit Committee, recent financial expertise and leadership, with the relevant financial or auditing qualification, will be essential.

I hope that you are attracted by the prospect of joining our Board and helping us to achieve and sustain excellent healthcare services for the benefit of the communities that we serve. I would encourage you in the first instance to contact our recruitment partners at GatenbySanderson for an informal discussion; David Heaton, Emma Pickup or Michelle Shirley on 0113 205 6094. I wish you well with your application. Yours sincerely,

Dennis Dunn
Trust Chairman and Chairman of the Appointing Committee
